WCED 3-Phase PME Fault Detection Unit – 100A 5-Pole MCB, 40A RCBO & Type 2 SPD

The WCED WARB5100C/PME40RSP is a three-phase EV distribution board for a single three-phase charge point. Its 100A 5-pole circuit breaker has built-in PME fault detection that completely disconnects all three phases, neutral and earth if a PME (PEN) fault is detected, so no earth rod is needed. It also includes a 40A RCBO for earth-leakage and overload protection of the charger circuit and a Type 2 surge protection device with a green/red status indicator.

The unit monitors each phase of a 400V or 415V supply with no dip-switch settings. If any phase falls below 207V or rises above 253V for 5 seconds, live, neutral and earth are isolated from the vehicle. After an under-voltage it resets automatically once the supply returns to normal; after an over-voltage it must be reset manually with the red RESET button on the WP9, so the driver can carry out safety checks first. It is suitable for EV chargers with integral DC leakage protection but no PME fault detection, and must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition or later).
